Program:

Sophie Hanna (Riverine Plains Project Officer) and John Bruce (Host farmer)

  • Introduce the trial plan and protocol along with the project purpose and background. They will discuss the benefits of rotationally grazing lucerne based pastures for improving pasture persistence, performance, and quality, as well as animal production.

Richard Hayes (Senior Research Scientist NSW DPI)

  • Maximising pasture performance and persistence – soil acidity, sampling, and management; lucerne density, and companion species for optimal pasture performance and persistence.

Susan Robertson (Senior Research Fellow Charles Sturt University)

  • Modelling outcomes of rotational vs set stock grazing, spring vs autumn lambing, and lucerne vs volunteer annual grasses, on pasture and animal performance.
