Workplace Relations online workshop – March 31 (limited places available)

Please note that the Compliance Confidence for Employment Matters workshop will now be held online (from the comfort of your own home/office) on Tuesday 31 March from 9.30am – 11.30am. 

Compliance Confidence for Employment Matters is a two hour workshop on workplace relations for farm owners and managers in the Federation Council.

Gracia Kusuma, NSW Farmers Workplace Relations Director, will present the online workshop which is designed to provide farm owners and managers with a workplace relations update on:

  • The distinction between contractors and employees
  • Getting to know the Pastoral Award
  • Award compliant pay arrangement
  • Annualised salary
  • Record keeping
  • Employment related tenancy

Microsoft Excel Masterclass Series

Please be aware that due to current recommendations and changing situation with COVID-19, events may be postponed or cancelled at short notice.  Please check our website, or with the organiser prior to attending.

Riverine Plains Inc will be hosting a series of half day Microsoft Excel Training sessions for people employed in farming and regional businesses in the Federation Council.

The six sessions will be presented by Steve Young, EXCELutions, and will be held over three days from 9am-1:30pm:

  • Monday 16 March – Session 1: Fundamentals, Session 2: Formatting
  • Monday 23 March – Session 3: Functions, Session 4: Visualisation
  • Monday 30 March – Session 5: Data Management, Session 6: Conditional Formatting

These workshops are free and are open to people employed in farming and regional business within the Federation Council. The sessions are ideal for beginners through to regular basic users of Excel.

While it is recommended participants attend each workshop, participants are also able to attend single workshops if preferred. Participants will require their own laptop.

Effective Communication Workshop – March 12, Corowa

A one-day Effective Communication workshop will be held on Thursday 12 March at Corowa for people employed in farming and regional businesses in the Federation Council.

The workshop is part of a series of workshops focussing on skills to help manage yourself, your time, your relationships and your role or business.

The Effective Communication workshop will be delivered by Rebecca Fing, House Paddock Training and Consulting, and will cover:

• Understanding different people
• Effective communication
• Conflict management and negotiation
• Having difficult conversations

This free event will be held from 9am-4:30pm (tea & coffee from 8:45am) at the Tom Roberts Meeting Room, Corowa Civic Centre, 100 Edward St, Corowa NSW. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided. RSVP’s essential by Monday 9 March, 2020.

Riverine Plains Inc is hosting a free Time Management and Productivity workshop for people employed in farming and regional business within the Federation Council.

The workshop is part of a workshop series focussing on skills to help manage yourself, your time, your relationships and your role or business and will be delivered by Rebecca Fing, House Paddock Training and Consulting.

It will be held on Wednesday 11 March from 9am-4:30pm (tea & coffee from 8:45am) at the Tom Roberts Meeting Room, Corowa Civic Centre, 100 Edward St, Corowa NSW, and will cover;

• The art of planning and setting great goals
• Time management
• Optimising productivity in your work day
• Getting App’Ed – apps and podcasts for productivity
• Improving administrative efficiency and Paperless office

Transforming Regions Development Program for Federation Council businesses – EOI’s open until 3 March

The Transforming Regions Development Program will commence at Oaklands on Friday 6 March, 2020.

Interested participants who weren’t able to attend the initial information evening are invited to register their interest by Tuesday 3 March.

The seven-part program, which will run during March and April, is designed to assist people employed in farming or regional businesses within the Federation Council of NSW area achieve long-term profitability and sustainability.

The Transforming Regions Development Program will focus on the mindset and skills required in business and will be delivered via seven work modules, which will be supported by podcasts, webinars and monthly resources.

Coaching, mentoring and support will also be provided to help participants acquire practical skills that can be applied to both personal life and business.

The program is funded by the Australian Government’s Drought Communities Program, in conjunction with Federation Council, and is being delivered by Riverine Plains Inc through Lessons Learnt Consulting. Subject matter experts will also assist in the delivery of each of the seven program modules.

The core modules will cover;

  • Understanding individual and shared values and strengths and their application to your personal life and business
  • Positioning your business to thrive
  • Shaping your future
  • Managing finances
  • Managing relationships
  • Managing change; and
  • Operational planning processes and management mechanisms.

Depending on the needs of participants, a number of additional modules may also be covered including succession planning, environmental change, working with financial institutions, managing the introduction of new people into the business and beyond farming.

Following a successful information evening held on 16 February, 2020, the Transforming Regions Development Program will commence at Oaklands on Friday 6 March, 2020.

Riverine Plains is hosting a two-part Paperless Office workshop series for people employed in farming and regional businesses.
