Riverine Plains will host a meeting of the Rand GRDC Pulse Check Discussion Group at the Rand Sports Ground on Wednesday 10 March, 2021, from 9.00 -11.30.

NOW BEING HELD ONLINE: Dookie/Murch East pre-harvest Pulse Check meeting – Friday 16 October

Due to the present COVID-19 circumstances in Shepparton, we have made the decision to hold tomorrow’s Dookie/Murch East pre-harvest Pulse Check Meeting online instead of the paddock as originally planned.

The meeting will now take place online (via zoom) from 8.30-10:00am tomorrow, Friday 16 October.

We have recent photos and results to discuss and it will really be the next best option to being in the paddock!

Guest speakers include Ben Morris (FAR Australia) and Josh Fanning (Agriculture Victoria).

Postponed: Pulse Check Discussion Group Paddock Walk Dookie/Murchison East – 25 June

The GRDC Riverine Plains Pulse Check Discussion Group paddock walk scheduled for this Thursday 25 June, 2020 at Murchison East has been postponed due to a recent tightening of COVID restrictions.

We plan to reschedule the meeting sometime in late July and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The GRDC Riverine Plains Pulse Check Discussion Group paddock walk scheduled for this Thursday 25 June, 2020 at Murchison East has been postponed in response to the recent tightening of COVID restrictions.

We plan to reschedule the meeting sometime in late July and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Pulse Check Discussion Group Paddock Walk – 3 September

Riverine Plains Inc will be holding it’s next Pulse Check discussion group paddock walk and discussion on Monday 3 September 2018 from  9.30am to 12.30pm.

We will first be inspecting John Alexander’s Faba Bean Paddock (opposite the house at 320 Devenish-Wangaratta Road (on north side of road), Bungeet West) before visiting his chickpeas (north of Devenish township at the intersection of the railway line and Devenish-St James Rd (also called Boxwood Rd)).

We will then visit Gall’s chickpeas and lentils which are both located on the intersection of the Benalla-Tocumwal Rd and the St James Rd, on the south west corner of intersection (Wagarandall Road).

Discussions will include
• Paddock management strategies (for each paddock visit)
• Crop pests, disease and weeds (Bruce Larcombe, Larcombe Agronomy & Tony Kelly, Advanced Ag)
• Nodulation
• Nitrogen fixation on acid soils and pH stratification (Helen Burns, NSW DPI, Wagga Wagga)
• Managing spring pulse logistics
• Update on market developments/opportunities for lentil, chickpea and other pulses

Attendees do not need to have attended previous meetings or have any prior knowledge of pulse production. The event is free and all are welcome. Light refreshments and lunch provided.

Pulse Check Discussion Group Paddock Walk – Monday 16 July

A post-sowing paddock walk will be held on the 16 July 2018 from 9:30 am for growers and advisors interested in pulse production.

The paddock walk will include visits to chickpea and faba bean crops near Goorambat and Devenish, Victoria. Discussions at each paddock will focus on crop establishment and early-season issues including;

• Response to sowing time, sowing rate and depth
• Plant density
• Early establishment pests and strategies
• Early crop disease identification and control strategies
• Early crop weed control strategies
• Update on market developments/opportunities for lentils, chickpeas and other pulses

Attendees do not need to have attended previous meetings or have any prior knowledge in pulse production to attend.

Please note the discussion group has recently been expanded to cover all pulse types.
