Rand Pulse Check Meeting, 10 March

Riverine Plains will host a meeting of the Rand GRDC Pulse Check Discussion Group at the Rand Sports Ground on Wednesday 10 March, 2021, from 9.00 -11.30.

Cancelled: GRDC Northern Pulse Check pre-sowing meeting – 19 March, Rand

Please be advised that the GRDC Northern Pulse Check group meeting that was to be held at Rand this Thursday 19 March has been cancelled in response to the rapidly evolving situation regarding the COVID-19 virus.

Riverine Plains Inc is currently working on an alternative method to present the information, with further information to be provided to GRDC Northern Pulse Check Group members as it becomes available.

The event program was to include;

  • Review of pulses 2019: Facilitated discussion
  • Best bet pulse varieties: Ian Menz, NSW DPI
  • Pulse market update: Phil Bowden, Pulse Australia
  • Profitable pulse rotations: Graeme Sandral, NSW DPI

The first meeting of the Riverine Plains Inc Dookie Pulse Check for 2020 will be held on Thursday 13 Feb 2020 from 9am – 12 noon at the St James Public Hall, 24 St James Road, St James.

  • Pulse performance on farm 2019 – Facilitated discussion
  • Best bets from the Southern Pulse Agronomy Trial – Jason Brand, Agriculture Victoria Research
  • Pulse: price and profit analysis – Richard Saunders, Rural Directions
  • Nailing Pulses 2020: seed rates, plant populations, herbicide carryovers, inoculation, pre-emergent herbicides – Facilitated discussion

This event is free and all are welcome. Attendees do not need to have attended previous meetings or have any prior knowledge of pulse production. Light refreshments provided.

Dookie Pulse Check pre-canopy closure meeting – August 13

A pre-canopy closure meeting will be held at Dookie on Tuesday 13 August, 2019 from 9am-11:30am as part of the Riverine Plains Inc Pulse Check Discussion Group series of meetings.

The paddock walk and discussion will begin at Gall’s lentil paddock (corner Pelly Rd & South Boundary Rd, St James) before moving to Alexander’s albus lupin crop (NW corner Devenish-St James Rd and Boxwood Rd). The final site will be the Southern Pulse Agronomy site, McCormack Rd, Yabba South.

Discussions will also include:

  • Nodulation results from the GRDC N fixation farmer demonstrations (Kate Coffey, Riverine Plains Inc)
  • Albus lupin production (Bruce Larcombe, Larcombe Agronomy)
  • Disease Management (Joshua Fanning, Agriculture Victoria Research)

Dookie Pulse Check Meeting – 15 March

The Riverine Plains Inc Southern Pulse Check pre-sowing discussion group meeting is on Friday 15 March.

The meeting will be held from 9:30am -12pm at the Ludeman family property sheds at 334 Ludeman Road, Waggarandall (Dookie), 3646.

The meeting will include;

  • 2018 pulse harvest debrief
  • Likely issues for sowing 2019
  • Seeding rates for 2019 (We will have scales so bring in a small sample of pulse seed and we can use these weights to calculate sowing rates for 2019)
  • Pre-emergent Herbicides Bruce Larcombe, Larcombe Agronomy.
  • Growing and Marketing Pulses David Matthews, Farm Trade Australia
  • Update on Pulse markets Anthony Cutter, AGT Foods
  • New Pulse Trial at Dookie Kate Coffey, Riverine Plains Inc
