A timely opportunity to join Riverine Plains (and win along the way)

Written by Claudia Pattinson | Feb 26, 2026 1:44:21 AM

If you’ve been thinking about joining Riverine Plains, now’s a great time to do it.

Up until 15 March 2026, new Farming or Affiliate Members will go in the draw to win a YETI esky and Riverine Plains merch pack! It’s a great bonus for joining, and more importantly, a way to access practical, farmer-led support that helps improve on-farm decision-making, productivity, and profitability.

Why farmer-led matters

Riverine Plains is an independent, farmer-led organisation with more than 450 members across northeast Victoria and southeast New South Wales.

Being farmer-led means programs, research, and projects are shaped by farmers and advisors on the ground. The focus is on peer-to-peer learning, trialling new technologies, and “kicking the tyres” before investing, so outcomes are practical, relevant, and proven locally.

Kate Coffey, Riverine Plains Head of Farmer Engagement, says the group is focused on helping farmers run efficient, sustainable businesses while managing production and risk.

“We’re currently managing more than 30 projects and trials targeting local production and business challenges, from soil health and nitrogen supply to livestock and cropping systems,” she said.

“Members gain early access to project results, along with events and publications that share practical insights from experts and local farmers on what’s working, and what’s not, in our region.”

Each year, the organisation consults widely to design research projects, trials, workshops, and training that address emerging issues and opportunities. Results are shared through field days, discussion groups, resources and events, tailored to local farming systems.

What our membership gives you

Riverine Plains membership gives farmers and industry professionals access to:

  • Independent local research and on-farm trials

  • Peer-to-peer learning and networking

  • Practical testing of new technologies and practices

  • Targeted training, workshops, and subsidised events

  • Timely local insights, including weather, risks, grants, and compliance updates

  • Member resources, including the Trial Book, newsletters, case studies, and monthly updates

  • Opportunities to host trials on your own farm

  • Access to the Riverine Plains member only portal.

Fiona Marshall, longstanding Member and Chair of the Riverine Plains Board says, “Our membership connects us with like-minded, growth-focused peers and gives us the chance to test new ideas and technologies, which is invaluable when much of farming involves figuring things out on your own.”

“It is vital that we see research, development and extension in our farming environment to test how research works in our farming system! It is a privilege to be part of a Board that sets the strategy for this positive, forward focused, highly effective organisation."
