COMPANION CROPPING, INTERCROPPING AND ORGANIC INPUTS FIELD DAY – SANGER

Join us for a practical Companion Cropping Field Day at Sanger on the morning of Tuesday 19 August to explore how companion cropping, intercropping and organic inputs like manure can influence nitrogen use and system performance.

This session will bring together researchers, agronomists and growers to unpack current trials and research findings.

Speakers and topics include:

  • Sabita Duwal (Riverine Plains), who will present in-field results and learnings from the GRDC Companion Cropping Project, with local context and management insights.
  • Abe Gibson (Southern Cross University) who will share outcomes from the 'Stinking Goat' project trial located at Burramine, offering a grounded view of how and when intercropping strategies are most effective, and when they might not be, as well as key considerations for growers exploring companion cropping in different systems.
  • Ben Morris (FAR Australia) will present findings from the GRDC Organic fertiliser sources for crop nutrition project trial currently underway in partnership with Riverine Plains and discuss how organic inputs can support or challenge companion cropping strategies.

This is a great opportunity to discuss system-based thinking in dryland cropping, share experiences, and consider where companion cropping fits (or doesn’t) in mixed and continuous cropping operations.

The exact location of event will be provided upon registration
