Wednesday 10 April 2024
7pm - 8pm

Event partners

This event is an activity of 'Drought resilient pasture systems' project funded by the Southern NSW Drought Resilience Adoption & Innovation Hub.

What we covered

Sophie Hanna (Riverine Plains Project Officer) and John Bruce (Host farmer)

  • Introduced the trial plan and protocol along with the project purpose and background. They discussed the benefits of rotationally grazing lucerne based pastures for improving pasture persistence, performance, and quality, as well as animal production.

Richard Hayes (Senior Research Scientist NSW DPI)

  • Spoke about maximising pasture performance and persistence – soil acidity, sampling, and management; lucerne density, and companion species for optimal pasture performance and persistence.

Susan Robertson (Senior Research Fellow Charles Sturt University)

  • Spoke on modelling outcomes of rotational vs set stock grazing, spring vs autumn lambing, and lucerne vs volunteer annual grasses, on pasture and animal performance.

The webinar recording is available to view below.
