  • The “tips and traps”

An overview from our speakers

Farm Succession / Strategic Planning starts NOW, no matter your age!

Our mission is to keep families on their farms, and family farms in family hands.

The biggest risk to our farming sector is the ever-changing rules and regulations around stamp duty and taxes which threaten to impede intergenerational farm transfers. This threat can be prevented, with prior planning and relevant information.

No longer is the question ‘to stay or to sell?’, rather, it’s to explore the many models available for transition, and document these early. This allows periodic review of the current regulations, as well as managing the expectations and protecting the futures of the people involved….while allowing our older generation to remain on-farm with financial security.

Using these adaptable models and management, we can protect our families and our farms, beginning when our children are young, right through to the ‘retirement’ of our aging mentors, with a Strategic / Succession Plan that evolves with the ages and stages.

Dianna Jacobsen (accountant/financial planner) and Deborah Culhane (solicitor) bring many years of experience to this integral facet of farm management and future-proofing. They will be sharing some of the ‘tips and traps’ that catch farming families unaware, and relating some of the situations they’ve encountered, to provide reference and equip attendees with relevant knowledge and questions for their own advisers.
