THE EVAN MOLL GEROGERY FIELD DAY 2022

The Evan Moll Gerogery Field Day will be held on Thursday 3 November at the Moll family property ‘Elderslie’, from 10am to 12:30pm.

Riverine Plains CEO, Catherine Marriott, said the group was pleased to be able to again help run this long-standing event, in conjunction with the Moll family.

“This event has been hosted by the Moll family for well over 80 years and is a fantastic opportunity for farmers to view the local Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) National Variety Trials (NVT) wheat and canola trials” she explained.

The NVT tours provide an opportunity for farmers to see how current varieties are performing under current local conditions, as well as varieties showing future potential for the region.

Peter Matthews, NSW DPI, will lead the wheat NVT discussion and the canola NVT tour will be led by representatives from Pioneer Seeds, AGT and Pacific Seeds. David Gould (Seed Force) will also discuss nitrogen fixation in sub-clover.

“Given the ongoing wet conditions, farmers will be able to see how current and emerging varieties are holding up in terms of yield potential and disease,” said Ms Marriott.

The Field Day is well timed to address any agronomic issues for growers in the lead up to harvest.

“The recent rains have caused significant damage across the region and there is no doubt this has raised many questions for growers about how to prepare for and manage harvest,” said Ms Marriott.

“We hope the day will provide a forum to address some of these issues with experts and help farmers connect with each other and the various support services in the region,” added Ms Marriott.

The Evan Moll Gerogery Field Day will be held from 10:00am – 12:30pm on Thursday 3 November, 2022 at the Moll family property, ‘Elderslie’, 167 Fielder-Moll Road, Gerogery.

A free BBQ lunch will be provided by Seed Force.
