FRRR Drought Preparation Webinar Series: Part 4 - AgTech

How can Ag tech help with drought preparation?

Key messages
  • The stress and overwhelm of drought can be reduced by taking steps to prepare for drought ahead of time

  • AgTech solution can help make things easier, especially during drought, by making decision making easier.

  • Pairtree brings a number of software applications into the one dashboard, while drones have many simple applications in identifying problems across the farm

  • Spare time does not really exist in small business, so any AgTech investment must be worthwhile and not create more problems than it solves

Riverine Plains recently hosted an AgTech webinar as part of a project supported by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.  The webinar aimed to provide a better understanding on how AgTech can be used to assist business decision making and aid on-farm drought preparation.

Hamish Munro (Farmer and Co-Founder of Pairtree) spoke about the Pairtree platform and how it can make life easier for farmers by bringing together multiple applications to the one dashboard. Drone expert, Fiona Lake, spoke about the many applications of drone technology in farming businesses and how aerial imagery can identify problems not otherwise visible from the ground.
