WHY THIS PROGRAM IS NEEDED
Young people are the future of agriculture.
At Riverine Plains, we understand that students, young farmers and professionals in the early stages of their careers bring fresh approaches and innovations to agriculture.
Developing relationships with mentors, expanding peer networks, and learning new skills is important in helping young people reach their potential and expand their horizons, so that they can play their part in making agriculture sustainable in the long term.
Youth in Ag
The Riverine Plains Youth in Ag program has been developed to help young people in their personal and professional growth. By participating in the program, participants can develop leadership skills, expand their networks, and enhance their opportunities within the agricultural community.
The Riverine Plains Youth in Ag program was established in 2022, with our first event being the Youth in Ag Dinner. Since then, the expanded has grown to include the Youth in Ag Dinner: GRAZE and Youth in Ag: Cultivate & Connect, which includes workshop and field tour.
The Youth in Ag program also now incorporates the Riverine Plains Scholarship Program for tertiary students and also supports free student membership to Riverine Plains. Students currently enrolled in an agriculture-related course at a recognised Australian tertiary institution can apply for the Riverine Plains Scholarship Program.
Youth in Ag: GRAZE
Beyond traditional networking, Youth in Ag: GRAZE creates an environment where young farmers, agribusiness professionals, students and graduates can create lasting relationships and exchange ideas. Youth in Ag: GRAZE is a cocktail-style/formal dinner event for young people in agriculture, featuring keynote speakers, a delicious meal and entertainment. Youth in Ag: GRAZE is not solely business-oriented – it’s a celebration of the agricultural community's vibrancy and spirit. Read more about the 2024 Youth in Ag:GRAZE event.
Youth in Ag: Cultivate & Connect
Youth in Ag:Cultivate & Connect isn't just another networking event; it's an event designed by and for young people with a passion for agriculture.
Through an immersive farm tour, participants can gain first-hand insights into the latest products and practices shaping agriculture in the region. Paired with discussions led by industry experts, attendees can delve deeper into specific topics, gaining valuable knowledge and guidance along the way.
