Visualising Australasia’s soils
Term

Project Officer
Jane McInnes
WHY THIS PROJECT IS NEEDED
Having a detailed knowledge of soils is important in helping researchers develop programs that can improve the long-term sustainability of Australian farms.
This project aims to increase the soils data and related information that can be discovered through the Visualising Australian Soils portal. This will help sustain a soil knowledge system that is useful for research, development, extension and adoption.
In short: This project is working to expand the soil data available on the Visualising Australian Soils portal. This includes soil test results available from research trials regional soil moisture sensor data, to enhance soil knowledge for research and development programs.
Project focus
The project involves the provision of soil test result data from Riverine Plains’ managed research trial sites using the Visualising Australian Soils data portal. Riverine Plains will also link regional soil moisture sensor data for display on the Visualising Australian Soils portal.
A number of extension activities are also planned for this project.
