WHY THIS PROJECT IS IMPORTANT

Identifying the opportunities and considerations for carbon farming in agricultural systems can be complex for farmers and land managers.

The Carbon Farming Outreach Program is a national initiative that provides farmers and land managers with independent, clear, and culturally relevant information on carbon farming strategies. This initiative also supports Riverine Plains staff in delivering workshops that boost knowledge on reducing on-farm emissions and exploring carbon storage opportunities.

This project features an extensive outreach program that includes over 160 workshops and 50 awareness-raising events across Australia. It also incorporates a ‘train-the-trainer’ model to ensure a lasting impact, training 130 participants to support the farming community.

The National Industry-led Carbon Farming Outreach Program aims to equip farmers and land managers with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions that reduce emissions. By providing clear, consistent, and culturally relevant information on carbon farming and low-emission technologies, the program is facilitating access to vital resources for sustainable agricultural practices

Project focus

The project aims to:

  • Build the capacity of trusted advisers to deliver independent, credible advice.
  • Facilitate access to clear, consistent, and culturally appropriate information on carbon farming and low-emission technologies and practices
