Technology uptake program
This project was completed in 2024
WHY THIS PROJECT WAS NEEDED
The agtech space is complex and continually evolving. This means it can be difficult for farmers to work out which technology provides the best solution when solving a problem on farm.
The Technology uptake program helped farmers in the Riverine Plains region understand the types of agtech available, and how it can benefit their farming operation.
This project followed on from Riverine Plains Producer technology uptake program, which involved online technology workshops and case studies of local farmers adopting new technology.
In short: The Producer technology uptake project aimed to simplify the adoption of useful agtech by farmers through a series of workshops, field tours, and case studies.
Project focus
The AgriFutures Technology uptake program specifically aimed to help farmers filter agtech information to make the process of navigating agritech options easier and less time consuming. The project helped farmers avoid the ‘information overload’ that often occurs within this space, via a series of workshops, field tours, case studies and field days, to help farmers with the adoption process.
Project outcomes
The project enabled Riverine Plains to run agtech workshops that helped farmers understand what’s working and what’s not with new apps, identify gaps in the technology market and share their experiences with agtech in general. The project also allowed a small group of members to trial Bayer’s Fieldview technology and learn about what the technology can offer farmers. Learnings from our focus group farmers will also be presented in a case study that will be available soon.
A demonstration of the Goldacres green-on-green technology ‘Weedetect’ at the 2023 Innovated Expo also showcased spot-spraying technologies now available to farmers.
This project helped deliver the 2023 Riverine Plains Innovation Expo and the 2024 In-Season Update.
