Agronomy students and early career agronomists the focus of GRDC’s investment in innovation and capacity building across agriculture as part of the Riverine Plains Innovation EXPO

The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and Riverine Plains Inc. are calling for current Agronomy Students and early career Agronomists to apply to secure one of 20 Full Event Tickets to the Riverine Plains Innovation EXPO. With both organisations focused on fostering  innovation in agriculture, this opportunity presents newcomers to the industry with a great opportunity to expand their horizons.

GRDC is pleased to be sponsoring up to 20 agronomy students or early career agronomists to attend the Riverine Plains Innovation EXPO to be held from 27-29 July 2022.

GRDC’s Northern Senior Regional Manager Gillian Meppem said “Attracting and supporting the talent needed to conduct and deliver world-class grains RD&E is crucial to the success of the Australian grains industry. It is also a key element of GRDC’s Capacity and Ability Framework.”

“By supporting events like the Riverine Plains Innovation Expo, we’re meeting our goal of generating pathways to innovate, translate and adopt R&D across the grains industry.”

“At GRDC we place a strong emphasis on investing in the next generation of grains professionals because it will be their innovation and passion that helps us continue to improve and optimise grower’s farm production.”

This is an opportunity for students and early career agronomists to see the innovation and research underway in the industry and expand their networks.

The inaugural Riverine Plains Innovation EXPO aims to foster innovation, create connections, share knowledge, and showcase businesses and individuals operating ahead of the curve. The event offers an opportunity for farmers, innovators, researchers, Not For Profit’s, government organisations, students, agronomists, and future thinkers to learn, network, and challenge the way we think about our local farming systems.

“We are thrilled to have the support of GRDC, especially to be able to give agronomy students and early career agronomists the opportunity to attend all 3-days of our Innovation EXPO. The whole purpose of the event is to develop networks, stretch minds and share knowledge so for GRDC to be targeting the future of our industry is very impactful both for the individual and the industry more broadly” said Riverine Plains Inc. CEO, Catherine Marriott.

“We are also delighted to have GRDC Chair, John Wood speaking as part of the Panel Discussion ‘Focus on industry strategies and how innovation, research, and ag tech will play a part in helping individuals and the industry more broadly capitalise on opportunities’ at the Riverine Plains Seed Force Innovation Conference on Day 3 of the event.”

Both GRDC and Riverine Plains Inc. hope students and early career agronomists take up the opportunity and apply, to learn, network and challenge the way they think.
