After leaving Albury on Sunday, the Riverine Plains Inc Northern NSW Study tour group has had a busy few days already!

First up yesterday was a visit to the University of New England’s Smart Farm, which looks at remote monitoring and virtual fencing among other things.  One of the highlights included learning about Accelerometers (or fitbits for animals!) with UNE lecturer Jamie Barwick.

Then followed a visit with Matt Foster from GrazeAg, who is a private consultant in the pasture and livestock industries. Matt gave the group a rundown on his business and agriculture in the New England area. Matt also explained pasture renovation and the group visited a 100ha paddock that had around 20,000t of rocks removed during it’s renovation.

This morning included a tour of the BOSS Engineering (Airseeder) Factory, which was very impressive.

From there the group heads out to Beefwood to look at autonomous tractors this afternoon.
