Pulse Check paddock walk & discussion, 19 October at Dookie: Lentils & Chickpeas

Growers interested in learning more about lentil and chickpea production are invited to join the Riverine Plains Inc North East Victoria & Southern NSW Pulse Check discussion group paddock walk and discussion.

We will be hosting a pre-harvest paddock walk and discussion on Thursday 19 October, 2017 at the Ludeman Brothers property at 334 Ludeman Road, Waggarandall (Dookie). The morning will begin with a shed based discussion at 9:30 am before moving out into a chickpea paddock later in the morning (an additional paddock inspection may be confirmed closer to the date).

Prior experience in growing pulses is not required as the purpose of the group is to increase regional knowledge and capacity in pulse production. The event is free and all are welcome.

The event will run from 9:30 am-12 noon.  Light refreshments will be provided on the day.

The discussions will focus on practical aspects of lentil & chickpea production, including;

  • Crop topping
  • Header set up
  • Mitigating header fire risks
  • Harvest Logistics
  • Retaining seed
  • Storage
  • Marketing
  • Paddock Selection
