A soil pit morning will be held in the Boorhaman/Rutherglen region on Friday 22 September.

This event is part of the Soil Moisture Probe Network Project, a partnership between Riverine Plains Inc & Boorhaman Landcare Group.

The morning will feature visits to a series of soil pits located next to soil moisture probe sites. The soil pits will form the backdrop to discussions about the soil moisture readings at each site this season, as well as the impact of soil type on water movement.

The schedule of visits is:

• 9am: Soil pit at Roger Campbell’s property on Jack’s Road, Wahgunyah, gate next to the Rail Trail (between Kilbourn Road and Back Wahgunyah Road)
• 10am: Soil pit at Gavin Taft’s property on Jack’s Road (between Bullers Lane and Kings Road)
• 11:30am: Soil pit at Damian O’Keefe’s property on Boorhaman East Road (half way between Wises Road and Boorhaman Road)
